Durability Workshop

Sunday 10 September 2023
12:00 – 4:30pm (AWST), Curtin University

With Concrete 2023 attracting several internationally renown durability experts to Perth, it is a fantastic opportunity to hold a workshop focusing on the work that they and their respective associations and organisations are currently working on.

The International Durability Workshop will include updates and in depth analysis of the work being conducted by the CIA durability committee, American Concrete Institute’s ACI 321 Durability Code Committee, and the fib Model Code 2020 task group. Added to this, local researchers and practitioners from Curtin University will provide updates and details on new innovations coming from the west. Attendees will be able to take away the presenters detailed presentations, and will have an opportunity to learn about latest updates in durability specification and positioning, as well as interacting with international experts in the durability field in an intimate setting.

AEFAC Installer Certification

12:00 – 4:30pm (AWST), Edith Cowan University

The Australian Engineered Fasteners and Anchor Council (AEFAC) Installer Certification Program, which is proudly supported by CIA Academic Members, Swinburne University, is initiated to train and equip installers with necessary knowledge and skills to perform anchor installation at the highest level. A certified installer must be capable of assessing ambient conditions, concrete condition, materials, equipment, and tools for installing mechanical and chemical anchors. By completing this training, you will be able to: 

  • Understand the technical requirements and best practices for installation of fasteners in concrete
  • Apply the appropriate installation techniques for different types of fasteners
  • Read and apply manufacturer installation instructions
  • Recognize and avoid common errors and failures of fasteners in concrete
  • Receive an AEFAC Installer certificate that validates your competence and proficiency 

To coincide with Concrete 2023, AEFAC are holding a certification program in Perth on 14 September (the day after Concrete 2023 concludes) at Edith Cowan University.
